Information for Students

Study at the Centre for Subatomic Structure Matter

Students considering a study career with the CSSM should contact the Centre (see For More Information below) in order to discuss the best plan given their particular interests.

As an example, a possible study path may be as follows:

  • A summer internship (when available) at the end of a student's final year of the undergraduate degree
  • Honours
  • PhD

Please note this is not the only path, of course. For example, a Master's or Master of Philosophy course may be undertaken rather than a full PhD. Also, a summer internship is by no means essential as a precursor to post-graduate study, and students may of course join the CSSM after taking Honours at another institution.

Financial Assistance

For graduate students moving from interstate to undertake their doctoral studies within the Centre, it is possible that a supplementary stipend may be able to be provided to help offset relocation costs. This would be considered during discussions relating to commencing such doctoral studies.

For general questions about University scholarships, etc, please see the university's website for more information on Scholarships and Student Finances.

For More Information

Further details can be obtained from the Director, Prof. Anthony Thomas, via email.

Enquiries are welcome from potentially interested students for Honours and higher levels.
